David Landau
Chairman

Originally a medical Doctor, David Landau co-founded Loot, London's Free-Ads paper, in 1985. Over the course of the next 15 years, David presided over the company's success and growth into one of the largest companies of its kind in the world. He served as Joint Managing Director of the company from 1985-1995 and as Chairman from 1995-2000. In July 2000 Loot was sold to directory company Scoot.com. David has served as the Chairman of the National Gallery Company, and is a Trustee for the Courtauld Institute and the National Art Collections Fund as well as several other charities, and is a Supernumerary Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford. He is the founder and Editor of Print Quarterly, a scholarly journal devoted to the history of printmaking, and has published several books in art history. He currently serves as Chairman of Image Metrics, and Hot Property and a Director of MeMedia. He is Saffron Hill's Chairman and is a member of the Investment Committee

George Arnold

George is a Managing Principal at Knightsbridge Advisors, a premier fund of funds focusing on early stage venture partnerships. From 2004 until recently, George was director and head of Venture/Growth Equity fund investments for Citigroup Private Equity. In this capacity, he was responsible for over 100 fund relationships with commitments of $1.3 billion, sat on a dozen advisory boards and brought Citigroup into some 29 new venture and growth equity funds. From 1998 to 2003, he invested directly in private technology companies alongside venture investors on behalf of Citigroup, serving as a director or observer on many of their boards including the boards of Insurance.com, ConvergeNet (acquired by Dell), Guardent (acquired by VeriSign), Mobile365 (acquired by Sybase), and Openwave (fka Unwired Planet and Phone.com). George spent five years as an engineer and project manager with a Silicon Valley technology company that produces test and measurement solutions and holds a patent in the area of metallic access subscriber line testing. He is a Swiss national, a former Swiss Army officer and a graduate of the Swiss Institute of Technology (Dipl.El.-Ing.ETH), who came to the US in 1992 to earn an MS in electrical engineering from Stanford University, followed by an MBA from Santa Clara University

Ranjeet Bhatia

Prior to co-founding Saffron Hill Ventures, Ranjeet worked as Advisor to the Chairman of Loot Ltd. where he advised on e-commerce strategy and investment and in a venture capital capacity for Lord Rothschild, evaluating technology venture opportunities. While at Loot he worked closely with business partners and financiers to structure Loot's strategic and financial requirements in preparation for sale. Ranjeet has had a long term interest in environmental technology and policy, and worked in the environment and energy consulting groups at Booz-Allen & Hamilton, and Dyncorp-Meridian, and as an intern in Vice President Al Gore's White House Office on Environmental Policy. Ranjeet earned an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Business, an M.A. in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Occidental College in Los Angeles

Ilaria Borletti

Ilaria belongs to a very well known Italian family of entrepreneurs, and shares her time between England and Italy. She is particularly involved in the management of large non-profit national and international organizations, including serving as the Chair of the Borletti Buitoni Trust, supporting of young concert artists advance their careers; and chairing the Amref Italia, providing medical and basic aid to Africa's poor. A Member of the Italian Committee of the American Academy of Rome, in 1994 she was awarded with the “Peace Prize”from the Region Lombardia for her humanitarian work in Africa. After successful experiences in Italy in the field of pharmaceutical distribution and as co-founder with David Landau of Loot, she has been involved with Saffron Hill since inception as a Director and member of its investment committee.

Richard Danzig

Richard served as the 71st Secretary of the Navy from November 1998 to January 2001 and was the Under Secretary of the Navy between 1993 and 1997. He is presently a consultant on biological terrorism to several government agencies, the Nunn Prize Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and a director and senior fellow of the Center for a New American Security. Richard is a director of Human Genome Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ), and National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE). He has on-going advisory relationships on business and political matters with several businesses, including a leading nanotechnology start-up and a large Japanese trading company. Between 1981 and 1993, Richard was a partner in the law firm of Latham and Watkins and was also vice chair of the International Human Rights Group, where he was awarded the Tony Friedrich Memorial Award as pro-bono human rights lawyer of the year. He received a B.A. degree from Reed College, a J.D. degree from Yale Law School, and Bachelor of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Upon his graduation from Yale, Richard served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Byron White.

Athan Dounis

Athan manages Citi Private Equity's venture capital and growth equity fund relationships. Citi Private Equity is the principal unit within Citi responsible for private equity fund commitments, non-control direct private equity investments, and mezzanine investments. Prior to joining Citi Private Equity in 2003, Athan worked at Financial Dynamics, a business and financial communications consultancy, where he acted as a communications and investor relations advisor for companies operating primarily in the consumer and retail industries. Previously, Athan worked in investment banking at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown as part of the financial sponsors and mergers, acquisitions and corporate advisory groups. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Shawn Luetchens

Prior to cofounding Saffron Hill Ventures, Shawn worked as an investment principal for Tribune Ventures where he invested in seed stage through pre-IPO round financings for digital media, infrastructure, and commerce companies. Shawn served on the Board of four Tribune portfolio companies and established Tribune's first seed stage financing.

From 1991-1994 Shawn worked for a private consulting firm based in Washington, DC where he managed technology development research projects focused on the development and financing of emerging technologies. Earlier in his career, Shawn worked as a Senior Project Manager for the US EPA managing multi-million dollar technology research, design, and construction projects. Shawn earned an MBA from Northwestern University's J L Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BS in Physical Sciences from the University of Nebraska.
